XP PEER TO PEER SLOW DOWN MCAFEE V8 ISSUE

Remove all protocols (all that are removable, anyway)

From a command prompt, type:

netsh int ip reset [ log_file_name]
(where a typical log_file_name may be resetip.log)

reboot computer

reinstall: Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Printer Sharing for Micorsoft Networks

run ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew – if an error occurs “Operation was attempted on something that is not a socket” then download the file XPWINSOCKFIX from the techdl.htm page and run the file – it will require a reboot. Note that the registry hack for the “Operation was attempted on something that is not a socket” can be found on answerbook page 880
