To change the settings on a Telxon PTC-610 portable barcode reader:
NOTE: YOU CAN PRESS END AT ANY TIME TO SAVE SETTINGS!
Press
‘# OF STORES:__’ Press <1>. More stores can be set if desired.
‘Use Code 2 of 5, 6 characters?’ Press
‘Use Code 2 of 5, 8 characters?’
‘Use Code 2 of 5, 11 characters?’
‘Use Code 39, 5 characters?’
‘Use Code 39, 6 characters?’
‘Use UPC codes?’
‘ENTRY RANGE1 2O5I, FROM: 000001, TO: 60000’
‘ENTRY RANGE, CODE 39, FROM: 00001, TO: 60000’
‘CLEAR/RECREATE, ALL DATA FILES, CONTINUE?’
‘CLEAR/RECREATE, ALL DATA FILES, SURE?’
‘SAVE NEW SETTINGS?’
It is possible to change the settings, such as baud rate, without destroying data already in the Telxon.
Answer NO to ‘CLEAR/RECREATE, ALL DATA FILES’.
Then answer YES to ‘SAVE NEW SETTINGS’.
Testing a Telxon’s memory will destroy any inventory information the Telxon is holding:
Start with the Telxon off.
Hold down the
Press the
Continue holding
The prompt for a PTC-610 will appear as: ’58>’ or ’62>’.
The prompt for a PTC-701 is: ’42>’.
Press and hold the <5> key until the Telxon beeps three times.
The Telxon will now test ‘Memory area’ and ‘Spad area’.
After this process is completed, the Telxon should return to it’s totals screen.
After this is completed, the set up information will have to be re-enter.

To reset the Telxon and clear all data files:
Turn the Telxon OFF
Hold down the ENTER and SP buttons
Press the ON/OFF once Continue to hold the ENTER and SP until the prompt appears. It will be wither 58> or 62>
Type in 6 and a ‘tp__’ appears . Enter 59 and press ENTER once
Then hold down the 3 Button until you hear 3 beeps.
You will be in the SETUP mode. Use the above steps to redo the setups.
If the unit seems stuck on ‘tp’, ‘br’ or something else, press CLR to get back
