SERVER 2012 ADMIN APPROVAL MODE – FILE RIGHTS DENIED WITHOUT

an extra prompt.

SEARCH for local security policy

Local Policies > Security Policies > User Account Controls: and then the two settings below. First is defaulted to disabled.

Has a new feature called “ADMIN APPROVAL MODE” which prompts even admins to confirm basic file share actions like UAC settings. If you’re dealing with a 9.3 client and running into file share issues make sure under the local security policy that the two options below are DISABLED to prevent basic errors from reading/writing to shared drives. Windows Server 2012 defaults to enable this.

‘Admin Approval Mode for build in administrators’ – DISABLED
‘Run all administrators in Admin Approval mode’ – DISABLED

Hardware please make sure we disable these settings on any 2012 servers we setup. That OS is approved for 9.3 clients only.
