SECONDARY LICENSE ERROR MESSAGE “AUTHORIZATION HAS FAILED”

If you receive this message suddently when licensing a secondary license server in v9:

“The Authorization has failed. The following information was provided: Authorization failed.”

In addition to the obvious factor that the User ID/Password didn’t match, it could be that they truly don’t have the licensing for that secondary ID/password at the main. Roger Dunn ran into this somewhere, where in the license allocation at the main one ID had been set to 0 sites. Retail Pro had no clue how that was even possible. You couldn’t make a secondary license 0 sites if you tried.

At any rate, the result is that they showed an ‘extra’ site license that they really didn’t have and this message was just telling them they needed to fix that.

If this happens, check in the list of licenses allocated at the main for one with 0 sites. Then delete and reenter that if necessary.
