Becasue of the 10 user IP restriction for windows XP we install PCCHARGE on Servers when they have more than 8 PCs. Just hit a new issue today. if they use terminal services we can NOT put PCCHARGE in the startup directory for all users. if it is there each profile will try to run PCCHARGE and try to handle the transactions at the same time causing problems. One way to verify this problem is if you go to the task manager and choose SHOW ALL PROCESSES FROM ALL USERS you will see activecharge.exe running under multiple profiles.
THE FIX:
REMOVE PCCHARGE FROM THE STARTUP DIRECTORY. Verifone recommended that they start in manually on a terminal server to avoid this issue.
